Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to do welding work (including Oxy-acetylene hard soldering). Conversance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993).
 
Requirements
Appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
 
Experience:
Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate. Grade A: No experience required. Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
 
Duties (key results areas/outputs):
It would be required of the officer to learn and comply with in-house systems and procedures. Training and develop staff. Control over tools and materials. Assist Artisan Foreman with administration, planning and schedules. Inspect equipment and installations. Repair and maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems including screw chillers, refrigerators, air ducts, coils, compression and reciprocating plants.

Inherent requirement of the job
Valid (code B/EB) driver’s licence. Perform standby duties when necessary. The successful candidate will be required to register with the South African Qualification and Certification Committee as an Authorised Practitioner: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Gas.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade A: R190 653-R211 596, Grade B: R224 574-R249 246, Grade C: R262 176-R324 708 Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
