Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Ophthalmology)

Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Ophthalmology.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Computer literacy (MS Office). Ability to function independantly , as well as in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient care. Proficiency in Opthalmic Clinical practice. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) in at least two of the tree official languages of the Western Cape.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Ophthalmology after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification as mentioned above.

Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Responsible for operational management of Sub-district/s Ophthalmic Health Services, (i.e. Hospital; CDC’s, clinics, mobiles and satellites). Ensure that all prescribed health policies are implemented. Ensure efficient planning, control and the effective use of all resources. Liaise with all role-players within the Oudtshoorn sub-district/s to ensure appropriate service delivery.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) drivers licence and willingness to travel.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 383 226 - R 444 276 (PN-B1) per annum, Grade 2: R 471 333 - R 579 696 (PN-B2) per annum (Plus, a non-pensionable rural allowance of 8 % of basic annual salary) Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
