Professional Nurse Speciality Grade 1 to 2 (Maternity/Neonatal)
  Employment Type: Permanent

Minimum educational qualifications:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and midwife. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period of the above periods must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualification will be appointed into the general stream, and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualification within a predetermined period of time. Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post basic qualification in: Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology Nursing Science. Candidate will be subjected to a practical/written and oral assessment. The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within the Saldanha
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provision of optimal holistic nursing care with set standards and within a professional/legal framework. Effective utilisation of resources. Participation in training and research. Provision of Support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur. Proof of annual receipt and licence to practice for 2024/2025.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Sound scientific knowledge of Midwifery and neonatology. Good Interpersonal skills. Computer literacy.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Willingness to work shifts (weekends, public holidays, and night duty. Willingness to travel. Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 451 533 (PN-B1)- R 530 376 per annum, Grade 2: R 553 545 (PN-B2) -R 686 211 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
