Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology. |

Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status)”. |

Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of RSA qualified employees. One-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of SA qualified employees. Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of RSA qualified employees. Minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa. |

Registration with HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology. |
|
|
Routine Electroencephalography (EEG) and long term (telemetry) scalp- and subdural electrode video EEG monitoring. Evoked Potentials (visual evoked potential and auditory brainstem evoked potentials), Nerve Conduction studies, Polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT). Must be able to function in all areas of the hospital e.g.: infectious wards, ICU and EC. Provision of specialized neurophysiology diagnostic and investigative services according to GSH protocols within the neurophysiology Unit. Providing accurate interpretation and reporting of the above neurophysiology procedures. Monitoring of and maintaining neurophysiology and other electronic equipment. Infection and stock control as well as ensuring adherence to safety protocols in the neurophysiology laboratory. Expertise and experience in intraoperative monitoring would be a distinct advantage. Assisting with a development teaching plan for clinical technology students and neurologists and participating in and/or assisting with research. |

Remuneration:
|
Grade 1: R 376 524-R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755-R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785-R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
