Radiographer Grade 1 to 3 (Radiation Oncology) (2 posts)

Minimum educational qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Do an afterhours on call service as rostered. Work late when deemed necessary to fulfil operational requirements.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Good communication skills (verbal and written). Good interpersonal skills. Good computer skills especially with Ms Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word and Aria Management System. Knowledgeable of radiotherapy protocols and standard operating procedures.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. One-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Note:

Duties (key results areas/outputs):
Perform and assist with co-ordination of treatment or planning or CT simulations or Quality Assurance and -related radiotherapy activities with RTTs, Community Service and student RTTs to ensure effective patient throughout. Safe handling of patients and assist in patient positioning and immobilization. Accustomed with linear accelerators, orthovoltage treatments, Aria and Eclipse planning systems. Ensure patients are accurately treated and/or planned, according to Clinicians’ instructions and give administrative and information support to the Chief. Quality Assurance of treatment or planning of patients, ensuring optimal work is executed. Administer appropriate patient care and perform quality assurance procedures on the treatment floor or planning. Participate in continuing professional development and assist with in-service training of Radiation Therapists, students and other visiting staff. Assist medical physicists in the quality control of equipment. Monitor and keep stock of consumables and assets within the section. Liaise with staff of all levels within, and occasionally outside, the Division on issues pertaining to the assigned patients Involvement in CPD activities and departmental lectures.
 
Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Radiation Oncology (Therapy) Radiographer.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 376 524-R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755-R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785-R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
