Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills. Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel). Conversant with the requirements of the Machinery and Occupational and Safety Act. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing skills and experience. Compile specifications and assist in managing projects.

Experience:
Grade A – no experience required. Grade B – at least 18 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate. Grade C – at least 34 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates will be subjected to a practical/ oral assessment. The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within the Garden Route District for a period of 3 months from date of advert.

Duties (key results areas/outputs):
Repairs and maintenance at hospital and Primary Health Care Facilities. Control and supervision of workshop staff. Compile specifications and assist in managing projects. Assist with the procurement of spares and control over tools and material. Personnel evaluation and training of subordinates. Liaison with Directorate Engineering management and private sector to co-ordinate and facilitate completion of ad-hoc projects.

Minimum completed educational qualification:
SAQA recognized Trade Test in a trade relevant to Building, Equipment & Infrastructure Construction & Maintenance (including general Fault-finding & Repair.)

Inherent requirements of the job:
Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel. Willingness to work irregular hours (eg. overtime, after hours, standby duties and weekends) and attend to emergencies when required). Physically fit to perform duties and work at heights and in confined spaces.




Remuneration:
Grade A: R 230 898 - R 256 263 per annum, Grade B: R 270 915 - R 300 675 per annum, Grade C: R 314 751 - R 386 775 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
