Operational Manager Nursing Grade 1 (General: Outpatients Department)

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
 
Minimum educational qualification
Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Good managerial, supervisory and decision-making skills. Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Knowledge and insight of legislation and policies relevant to current nursing practices within the Public Service. Disciplinary and conflict management skills. Good communication and writing skills. Good leadership and organizational skills and the ability to function under pressure. Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates will be subjected to a written/practical and oral assessment. The pool of applicants will be considered for other similar posts within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, for a period of 3 months from date of advert.
 
Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Supervise and ensure the provision of an effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of nursing care plan and evaluation thereof. Provide relevant health information to health care users to assist in achieving optimal health care and rehabilitation of patients. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders (i.e. inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teamwork. Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards and procedures. Manage and monitor proper utilization of human, financial and physical resources
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work shifts, and overtime as required.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 520 560 - 596 322 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
