Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status). The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within Hessequa Sub District for a period of 3 months from date of advert.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provide Occupational Therapy service (individual patient assessments and treatment of patients) at Riversdale district hospital and Hessequa Sub-District Clinics. Functional rehabilitation of patients including hand rehabilitation. Health education and group therapy. Coordinate. assess, prescribe, order and fitting of wheelchairs, as well as assistive devices. Service and repair wheelchairs as well as support wheelchair repair workshops. Administration of Occupational Therapy service in the subdistrict.
 
Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with the HPSCA as Occupational Therapist.
 
Minimum educational qualification
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Occupational Therapist.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Current valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work in integrated multi-disciplinary teams across platforms. Computer literacy in MS Office mandatory.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 376 524 - R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755 - R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785 - R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
