Ability to work shifts during the day and night, weekends and public holidays and overtime when required by supervisor.

Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. degree/diploma in nursing and midwifery) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse with Midwifery. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1-year accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General.

Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Knowledge and understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices within a hospital environment. Critical thinking and good interpersonal skills. Excellent clinical skills – ability to diagnose and manage emergencies.

No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a practical test. Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualification will be appointed into the general stream, and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualification within a predetermined period of time.Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post basic qualification in: Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General with the South African Nursing Council. The pool of applicants will be considered for similar vacant posts within Worcester Regional Hospital for a period of 3 months from date of advert.

Duties:
Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care within the professional, ethical and legal framework and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Effective utilisation of all resources. Provide support to Nursing Services ensuring quality productivity. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Participation in training, including mentoring and research.

Registration with a Professional Council:
Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse and Midwife.




Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 451 533- R 530 376 per annum, Grade 2: R 553 545- R 686 211 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
