Note:
“Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration as Diagnostic Radiographer with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status)”.
 
Requirements: Minimum Educational Qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
 
Competencies(knowledge/skills):
Knowledge of protocols, radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety. Good interpersonal skills and perform effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of Patient Archiving and Communication Systems and Radiology Information Systems. Good communication skills.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provide a Radiographic service. Produce diagnostic images of high quality. Optimal patient care. Safe use and care of equipment. Accurate record keeping. Assist with training of community service Radiographers and students. Participate in continuing professional development activities.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Render an after-hour service as part of your 40- hour work week as determined by the department.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 376 524 - R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755 - R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785 - R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
