Accompany/assist and transport of patients via beds/trolley/wheelchairs between treatment areas. Assist with the loading of patients in/out of ambulances/vehicles. Carry medical and other documentation (patient files, reports, etc.) to wards/ treatment areas. Check, report and replace gas cylinders in wards/treatment areas and assist with shifting of medical equipment to and from rooms. Responsible for the maintenance of trolleys and wheelchairs (this includes cleaning and repairs). Assist with the transportation of corpses from wards and complete mortuary registers. |

Appropriate porter experience in a hospital/health environment. |
|
|
Basic reading, writing and numerical skills. |
|
|
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure. Willing to work in a team. |

No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. The pool of applicants will be considered for other similar post within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Candidates will be subjected to a practical/written and oral assessment. |

Willingness to work shifts including nightshift, weekends and on public holidays. Willingness to work overtime when required. Ability to perform tasks such as lifting patients from/onto beds trolleys and wheelchairs. Must be of sober habits. |

Remuneration:
|
R 131 265-R 154 626 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
