Professional Nurse: Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Ophthalmology)

  Beaufort West PHC, Central Karoo District,Stationed at Beaufort West Hospital
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Post-basic qualification with duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Ophthalmology.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Computer literacy (MS Office). • Ability to function independantly , as well as in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient care • Proficiency in Opthalmic Clinical practice.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification as mentioned above

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. The pool of applications will be considered for other Professional Nurse: Ophthalmology posts within the Central Karoo District for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Candidates will be subjected to a practical/written assessment. “Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualifications will be appointed into the general stream, and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualifications within a predetermined period of time. “Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post basic qualification: in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Ophthalmological Nursing with the South African Nursing Council.”
 
Registration with the Health Professions Council:
Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
 
Duties (key result areas/ outputs):
Provide Ophthalmic Health Services within the Beaufort West Sub-district, (i.e. Hospital; CDC’s, clinics, mobiles and satellites). • Ensure that all prescribed health policies are implemented. • Ensure efficient planning, control and the effective use of all resources. • Liaise with all role-players within the Central Karoo sub-district/s to ensure appropriate service delivery.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 451 533 (PN-B1)- R 530 376 per annum, Grade 2: R 553 545 (PN-B2) -R 686 211 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
