Artisan Assistant

Experience:
Appropriate experience.
 
Competencies (knowledge/ skills):
Basic knowledge of carpentry, bricklaying, plastering, electrical, mechanical, light current, Air-con & refrigeration, plumbing, painting, tiling and other Handyman related functions. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Grade 10/ Standard 8 or equivalent qualification.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Maintenance, installation and minor repairs of water reticulation systems. Maintenance and unblocking sewer systems and minor repairs in all related plumbing activities. Maintenance and minor, repairs to equipment and machines in the mechanical field. Maintenance and minor repairs and installations of equipment and electrical items. Maintenance and minor repairs and manufacture of all carpentry work. Maintenance and minor repairs in the light current field. Maintenance and minor repairs of buildings and repairs.

Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a practical assessment. The pool of applicants for the post of Assistant to Artisan will be considered for other posts within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services for a period of 3 months from date of advert.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work overtime when required. Ability to do standby duty when required. Capability to do strenuous physical labour. Valid Code B Driver’s Licence.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 183 279 - R 215 892 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
