Clinical Technologist: Grade 1 to 3 (Neurophysiology)

Requirements:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Clinical Technologist in Neurophysiology.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent team player Excellent interpersonal, administrative, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced Knowledge in Neurophysiology, including objective electrophysiological diagnostic assessment in EEG, NCS, LTM, Evoke potentials (BAER/VEP/ERG) and Sleep investigations.
 
Experience:
Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of RSA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of SA qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
 
Note:
No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status)".
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Perform various quality diagnostic procedures e.g. awake EEG, sleep EEG, awake/sleep EEG, day telemetry and Nerve conduction studies, electroretinograms, visual evoked potentials and auditory brainstem evoked response on in patients and outpatients. Providing accurate interpretation and reporting of neurodiagnostic procedures. Operate equipment and to ensure the correct function thereof as well as to trouble shoot. Liaise and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team, to support the delivery of best practice for patient care. Management of all resources which included Assisting with maintenance of equipment. Provide Professional education and training to staff. Contribute and involvement with relevant research within the department.

Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist in Neurophysiology.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 376 524-R 430 512 per annum, Grade 2: R 439 755-R 501 630 per annum, Grade 3: R 514 785-R 623 229 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
