Chief Forensic Officer

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):
Good working knowledge of IT packages (FPS Business System, Live link). Competent in numerical assessment, planning, forecasting, and checking (budget, procurement, stores, claims, etc.). Planning skills. Knowledge and application of policies. Ability to achieve and maintain good interpersonal and working relations with staff and clients, with knowledge of the core values of the Department. Above average communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape and ability to communicate clearly and discreetly in person and in writing. Above-average computer and software literacy in at least MS Excel and Word.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Manage the facility and service area through strategic operational planning, communication, and resource allocation. Effective Clinical Service delivery & management of Major Incidents in the service area. Effective Human Resource Management. Effective Management of Finances, Assets, and Infrastructure. Effective Electronic Information and Document Management.

Experience:
People Management, Supply Chain and Finance experience. Extensive Forensic Pathology Operational Experience. Appropriate Managerial experience in a Forensic Mortuary.
 
Requirements Minimum educational qualification:
Senior Certificate (or equivalent).
 
Note:
The candidate will be subjected to an interview and competency test. Candidates will be subjected to security clearance prior to appointment. Shortlisted candidates may be subjected to a psychometric evaluation.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Valid Code B/EB driver’s license. Ability to lift and work with corpses (mutilated, decomposed, infectious viruses, etc.). Will be required to wear a uniform. Will be required to work standby (after hours). Will be required to deliver testimony in court proceedings.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 359 517 per annum - R 420 402 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
