Competencies (knowledge/skills)
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Relevant knowledge, skills and experience of financial systems, processes, procedures, prescripts, and legislative framework (PFMA, NTR’s, etc.) Knowledge of BAS, PERSAL and LOGIS. Knowledge of Annual Financial Statements, Budget, Expenditure, and suspense accounts Computer literacy. Good leadership and Managerial skills and the ability to work under pressure and independently.
 
Experience:
Appropriate experience in finance. Appropriate experience in a creditors environment and expenditure management, compiling monthly reporting as well as annual and interim financial statements. Appropriate experience in LOGIS and BAS.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Manage and ensure compliance within the Finance Department (expenditure control, verify, authorize and follow up on debt- and ledger accounts and all other financial management responsibilities) including draw and monitor expenditure reports and authorizing payments on LOGIS and BAS and ensure the correct use of SCOA allocations. Control, verify, authorise journals and reporting of Asset & Liability accounts. Check and verify S&T claims. Monthly financial reporting and compile Annual and Interim Financial Statements Effective management of Human Resource, Performance Management and development of staff, Supervision and on-going training of sub-ordinates.

Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 294 321-R 343 815 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
