Assistant Manager Pharmaceutical Services

Experience
A minimum of three-year appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist with SAPC.
 
Requirements:
Basic qualification accredited with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist.
 
Note:
Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status). Only officials within the Provincial Government: Western Cape will be considered for this post.

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills)
Knowledge of a public health approach to delivering integrated pharmaceutical services. Ability to manage a team of people across different sites. Ability to work in integrated multi-disciplinary teams across platforms. Clinical, leadership, administrative, teaching and mentoring skills. Computer literacy in MS Office mandatory. Creativity to develop new ideas which can result in positive changes to existing processes. Proven organizational and management skills specific to a pharmacy and health-care environment. Sound knowledge of Good Pharmacy practice. Knowledge of the Acts pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and national and provincial health policies. Ability to cope under pressure and maintain a high standard of professionalism.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Manage the overall provision of Pharmacy services in the Central Karoo sub-districts through implementing and maintaining National, Provincial and District policies and protocols related to pharmacy services across the Central Karoo. Participate in clinical governance of a growing integrated district multi-disciplinary team. Effectively manage the human resources, finances and administrative aspects relating to pharmacy services in the Central Karoo sub-districts. Facilitate the execution of statutory related and other inspections in terms of the Medicine and Related substances Control Act and ensure compliance to National Core Standards , Ideal Clinic and Ideal Hospital requirements. Monitor the treatment, medicine usage, medicine and vaccine supply and manage expenditure patterns against relevant budgets. Effectively promote rational drug use and antibiotic stewardship. Effectively represent the pharmacy at relevant meetings and ensuring effective lateral and vertical communication of relevant information. Address training needs for Pharmacy staff and coordinate pharmacy training program for the Central Karoo sub-districts. Represent the Central Karoo sub-districts at District, Provincial and National meetings and forums. Report to the Director Garden Route and Central Karoo Districts on Central Karoo Sub-district pharmacy matters.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to perform relief and after-hour duties when required. Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license, as well as willingness and ability to travel. Ability to (read, write and speak) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 990 066-R 1 145 748 per annum (Plus a non – pensionable rural allowance of 17% of basic salary) A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.
