Pharmacy Supervisor

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to function in a team and promote teamwork. Computer literacy. Appropriate knowledge of National and Provincial Health policies and Pharmaceutical acts and laws. Appropriate ability to tutor and train Pharmacist’s Assistants and/or Intern Pharmacists.
 
Requirements
Basic qualification accredited with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Provide strategy and support to ensure effective and efficient functioning of pharmacy services. Manage the pharmacy in respect of staff (people management), budget (financial management), equipment, stockholding and co-ordinate operations in line with statutory requirements, Western Cape Government regulations and circulars. Manage and supervise dispensing, dispense prescriptions to patients and oversee the Pharmacy of Swartland Hospital and Specialist, Psychiatric and ARV Dispensing processes to the Swartland Sub-District. Coordinate and maintain quality assurance initiatives relating to pharmacy services. Supervise training, promotion of rational medicine use, promotion of public health and education of patients and staff. Represent pharmacy services at sub-district management meetings. Participate in Continued Professional Development (CPD). Supervise training, promotion of rational medicine use, promotion of public health and education of patients and staff.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist.
 
Inherent requirements of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness to register as a Responsible Pharmacist and Tutor. Willingness to do after-hours work and be on call.
