PRINCIPAL FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR

Experience:
Appropriate Supervisory experience in a large-scale Food Service Unit. Appropriate experience in Logis. Appropriate experience of food preparation and production methods
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Control food preparation and production for normal and therapeutic diets. Ensure and uphold strict quality control systems for food, as well as stock management and ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment. Responsible for personnel administration (i.e. SPMS reports, duty rosters, annual leave schedules and training of sub-ordinates). Effective utilisation and supervision of the Food Service team. Process statistics to ensure that the food expenditure remains within the budget, as well as assisting in the compilation of menu/meal costing. Responsible for Food Service computerised costing systems and (LOGIS) functions. Assist with procurement procedures, e.g. order and receive supplies in the Food Service Unit. Monitor all activities related to the operations of the Food Services Unit according to Provincial Food Services SOP’s.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Grade 9 (std7) (proof must be attached) plus a Food Certificate (Relevant to the post, proof to be attached.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Knowledge of cultural diversity and good communication/interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Disciplinary Procedures and the ability to maintain discipline and handle conflict. Sound organisation skills and effective utilisation and supervision of the Food Service team. Knowledge of pest control, infection control, hygiene, occupational health and safety. Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and Food Safety Principles. Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food theory, preparation and cooking methods, production, Computer literacy (MS Office Word and Excel), written and numerical skills. Ability to communicate in at least 2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape.

Note:

Inherent requirement of the job:
Willingness to work shifts and overtime. Incumbent must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and be on his/her his feet for long periods of time. Relieve the Food Service manager.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
R 181 599 - R 213 912 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
