Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid Code (B/EB) drivers licence. Willingness to work irregular hours (e.g. overtime, after hours, standby duties and weekends) and attend to emergencies when required.
 
Requirement:
Appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel). Conversant with the requirements of the Machinery and Occupational and Safety Act. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing skills and experience.
 
Experience:
Grade A: No experience required. Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate. Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate / recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant trade test certificate.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Repairs and maintenance on all four (4) Campus grounds. Control and supervision of workshop staff. Liaison with engineering management and private sector to co-ordinate and facilitate completion of ad-hoc projects. Compile specifications and assist in managing projects. Assist with the procurement of spares and control over Personnel evaluation and training of subordinates.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade A: R 193,512-R 214,770 per annum, Grade B: R 227,943- R 252,984 per annum, Grade C: R 266,109 - R 329,580 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
