A valid (Code B/EB) drivers licence and willing to travel throughout the Western Cape. |

Appropriate experience after qualification on optical / instrument repairs. Appropriate experience and knowledge on the following is also recommended: Operating Lathe, milling machine, manufacturing spare parts, all types of welding ( Gas / Tig / Mig ). Repairs to various mechanical instruments. and various types of laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment (gastro-, colono-, cysto-, brongio-, ent etc.). |

Carry out advanced maintenance, repairs, calibration, modifications and installations of medical (Optical) equipment. Train junior technicians and users on equipment. Ensuring that the equipment meets legal and safety requirements of the manufacturers and statutory bodies. Perform all administrative functions as required by the Clinical Engineering Department, managers and health Technology prescripts while ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993. Liaison with hospital and private sector staff while reporting to the unit manager in charge of the relevant workshop. Manage the workshop in the absence of manager in charge of relevant workshop and be willing to work within all Clinical Engineering disciplines. Advanced knowledge of managing, planning and organizing maintenance schedules. |

National Diploma in Electrical (LC) Engineering (T; S or N stream), or registration as an Engineering Technician in terms of the Engineering Profession of South Africa Act (Act 46 of 2000). (Proof must be submitted). |

Only officials within the Provincial Government: Western Cape will be considered for this post. |
|
|
Proven knowledge of health technology principles. Ability to compile technical specifications for medical equipment. Excellent ability to do faultfinding on equipment. Good written and verbal skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Proven experience computer literacy (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Product specific technical training. |

Remuneration:
|
R 321 543-R 378 765 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
