Minimum educational qualifications: • Grade 1: Successful completion of the Critical Care Assistant (CCA) qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Paramedic. • Grade 2: Successful completion of the Critical Care Assistant (CCA) qualification or a recognised National Diploma that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Paramedic. • Grade 3: Successful completion of the Critical Care Assistant (CCA) qualification or a recognised National Diploma that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Paramedic or B-Tech degree that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP). • Grade 4: Successful completion of the Critical Care Assistant (CCA) qualification or a recognised National Diploma that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Paramedic or B-Tech degree that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP).
Inherent requirements of the job: • Valid Code C1 driver’s licence. • Valid C1 Professional driver’s permit. • Physical and mental fitness

Grade 1: • None after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic (CCA). Grade 2: • 7 Years after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic (CCA). • None after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic with a National Diploma. Grade 3: • Registered Paramedic (CCA) - 14 years after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic. • Registered Paramedic (NDIP) - 7 years after registration with the HPCSA as as Paramedic. • None after registration with the HPCSA as an ECP. Grade 4: • Registered Paramedic (CCA) - 24 years after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic. • Registered Paramedic (NDIP) - 17 years after registration with the HPCSA as Paramedic. • Registered ECP’s -10 years after registration with the HPCSA as an ECP.

Remuneration:

Grade 1: R 258 198 per annum, Grade 2: R 322 812 per annum, Grade 3: R 398 034 per annum, Grade 4: R 468 870 per annum
