Professional Nurse Grade 2 (Specialty: Psychiatry) (Clinical Nurse Training)

Inherent requirement of the job:
A Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
 
Minimum educational qualification:
Basic R425 (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic qualification, with duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Facilitate and implement an effective in-service training programme, and conduct nursing training needs analysis in the nursing department. Responsible for orientation, induction, mentoring and continuous education processes of nursing personnel including students in the nursing department. Responsible to represent the nursing department on the human resource and development training committee and any relevant supportive functions and committees. Facilitate and assist with the management of study leave, internal and external course allocation. Ensure effective implementation and compliance with relevant legislation/policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of nursing care. Responsible for student management processes.
 
Experience:
Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after Registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty as mentioned above.
 
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Knowledge of legal framework and regulations regarding nursing practice. Good leadership and people management skills. Computer literacy. Report writing skills. The ability to communicate (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Note:

Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 2: R 471 333 - R 579 696 (PN-B2) per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
