Medical Officer Grade 1 - 3 (5/8th)

Minimum educational qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Excellent knowledge of the role that an EMS plays within the health system. Ability to communicate effectively in at least one of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Experience in working collaboratively with communities and on ‘community engagement’ programs. Strong research background with a focus on health systems strengthening.
 
Experience:
Grade 1:None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA qualified employees. One-year relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 6 years relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
 
Note:
Only officials within the Provincial Government: Western Cape will be considered for this post.
 
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
 
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
To co-create a resilient, agile and effective Emergency Medical Services able to meet the constitutional mandate of access to emergency medical care. To foster and promote a Learning culture within the emergency medical services through a reflexive and engaged leadership program. To explore and develop an organisational strategic and execution capability in order to realise the objective of a responsive and accountable EMS through robust community engagements. To support and assist the manager medical services in meeting its objective to the EMS organization.
 
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
 
 
 
 
Remuneration:
Grade 1: R 513 252 - R 552 918 per annum, Grade 2: R 586 854 - R 641 682 per annum, Grade 3: R 681 057 - R 851 478 per annum (A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual’s personal needs.) A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.
