Requirements:
|
1. PORPOSE OF ROLE
The Section Occupational Hygiene Officer is responsible to run and oversee the daily routine duties of the occupational hygiene department at the operations and provide the Occupational Hygienist with information to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
2. WORK OF ROLE
Ensure that legal requirements, Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine standards and policies are adhered to maintain occupational hygiene strategies and systems.
Conduct risk assessments and participate in audits.
Conducts daily occupational hygiene inspections and records findings.
Report findings and recommend appropriate interventions.
Management of resources and assets.
Assist in short term occupational hygiene planning (6-12 months).
Contribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the occupational hygiene department and those of the business area.
3. QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12
• Certificate in Mine Environmental Control / Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Certified as an Occupational Hygienist by the South African institution for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH)
• Diploma / Degree in Environmental Health / Occupational Hygiene – Advantageous
• Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Legal Knowledge - Advantageous
4. EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the Occupational Hygiene Field in a mining and/or processing environment.
5. KNOWLENGE AND SKILLS
• Computer literate in MS Office, Delta, and other specialised technical programs
• Valid driver’s license
• Data analysis skills
• Presentation / facilitation / training skills
